Factors driving this growth include innovative products, diverse choices, home renovation needs, and emerging markets. Spa-style bathrooms have become a popular home trend.

The rise of bathrooms inspired by spa experiences, known as 'spathrooms', is accompanied by the use of metal materials, sustainable solutions, and 'immersive' design. These designs combine key elements of commercial and residential spaces. According to a significant new report on the latest trends in home design, this includes Cosentino Group, a global architecture and design sustainable surface supplier.

The report is based on a survey conducted by market research company IPSOS. Insights from leading designers, architects, and design-inspired homeowners were also taken into account. According to Cosentino, the boundaries between home, work, and entertainment are becoming increasingly blurred in a post-pandemic world. This has led to the rise of 'immersive' design in both commercial and residential spaces.

Homeowners and design professionals both want to incorporate spa-style bathrooms and indoor/outdoor terraces from resorts or hotels into their homes. According to a survey, 70% of designers seek decoration inspiration from resorts and hotels, and 58% find inspiration from specific travel destinations. (Source: Kitchen & Bath Design News)

In the fiscal year 2022-2023, exports of ceramic products (tiles, tableware, and sanitaryware)

from Bangladesh increased by 4.91% compared to the previous year.

In the fiscal year 2022-2023, exports of ceramic products (tiles, tableware, and sanitaryware) from Bangladesh increased by 4.91% compared to the previous year. This is a slower growth rate than the 32.95% increase observed in the fiscal year 2021-2022 and the 11.23% growth in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

"The industry did not achieve the expected export growth in the fiscal year 2023 because manufacturers could not operate factories at full capacity due to a shortage of natural gas," explained Irfan Uddin, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BCMEA). To prevent depletion of foreign exchange reserves, the government stopped directly purchasing liquefied natural gas from the international spot market last year. This led to a prolonged shortage of domestic production and a sharp decline in energy supply, which affected the ceramic industry.

The local ceramic manufacturers mainly produce three types of products: tiles, tableware, and sanitaryware. Out of the 68 manufacturers currently in operation, 20 produce tableware, 32 produce tiles, and the remaining manufacturers produce sanitaryware. (Source: The Daily Star)
