Indian Ceramic Industry eyes double turnover of Rs 50,000 cr by 2020

He was here to participate in the road show to promote the second Edition of Vibrant Ceramics Summit 2017, the world's largest ceramic exhibition of finished goods, to be held at Gandhinagar in Gujarat from November 16 to 19. Mr Jetpariya said it was expected to attract 2500 buyers from all over the world which represents more than 60 per cent of global ceramic industry.
The exhibition is being held on the lines of Vibrant Gujarat in the same grounds which will be spread over 50,000 square meters with 250 exhibitors and 400 plus brands participating and in addition to that more than 2 lakh visitors from all over India are expecting to participate in the event, he said .
With the cost of production in China increasing, India with good quality mineral available would emerge the top producer of finished ceramic goods, Mr Jetpariya told reporters here.
When compared to foreign products, India product was less and more durable, he said. For architects, builders and interior decorators, the Vibrant Ceramic show would offer a wide choice, he said, we will offer free stay for the foreign delegates.
India at present contributes to 12.9 per cent of global Ceramic consumption resulting in Rs 25,000 crore of revenues, he said Ceramic exports were of the order of Rs 6,000 crore last year and during the current year it could touch Rs12,000 crore with Morbi accounting for 98 per cent of production.
Currently, 700-odd manufacturing units across the country was producing 1600 million square meters per annum, he said that in the next 4-5 years, 300-odd new units are expected to come up. The current capacity was 4.38 million tiles per day.
The states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributes to Rs 1000 crore of revenue to the ceramic industry which will double by 2020, he said.
The Andhra Pradesh Government had evinced interest in setting up a ceramic cluster, but the cluster needs more units, he added.UNI KNR CS1755
